Worship and Music at FPC
Visitors are always very welcome at any service of worship! Worship
Service at FPC takes place every Sunday. From Memorial Day weekend
through Labor Day, worship is from 9:30 to 10:30. After Labor Day up
until Memorial Day, worship (preceded by church school) occurs from
10:30-11:30. Our service usually follows a fairly traditional form,
using the Revised Common Lectionary.
A lay worship leader, a special time for children, the sharing of
joys and concerns by worshippers in attendance, and frequently a
"Minute for Mission" are regular features. Our worship is infused
with creativity in presentation, illustrated by dramatic touches for
scripture readings. The Lord's Supper is celebrated roughly 10 times
a year, by either Intinction or pew distribution.
Children aged
three through third grade take part in a special program called
"Disciples' Treehouse" after they attend the opening segment of
corporate worship.

FPC has a long-standing reputation for excellent music. Worship
music is consciously and carefully blended in style and pacing each
week. We usually sing from both The Presbyterian Hymnal and a
songbook of more "contemporary" songs called "Lift Up Your Hearts".
Our four-part choir and congregation sing well, with leadership from
acoustic instruments and under the direction of the choir director.
Piano and pipe organ are heard every week, and approximately once a
month, the handbell choir plays as well.
During 2004, we also held a series of
afternoon Taize services in Lent as well as a monthly, evening "Rock
Service" put together by one of our high schoolers and his friends.
"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised!"
